Abstract
This contribution sketches an initial review of studies on music in 17th Rome, from the 1970s to the present. It focuses above all on the main themes - sacred music, opera, patronage - that have come to occupy the attention of scholars, with a reflection on the various approaches that have oriented and characterized studies in the course of these four decades.
